  • FC2 - Various free resources for sites. A solid selection of visitor counters are available here, as well as a simple BBS system, and free hosting + templates for small blogs or websites.

  • learn.sadgrl.online - Extremely helpful guides and tutorials for html, css and other webhosting aspects. Consider the main site for additional resources as well.

  • Rarebit - Free, open-source webcomic template built with HTML and Javascript.

  • w3schools - The major go-to for all your coding tutorial needs.

  • Zonelets - A simple and user-friendly blogging engine designed for use with Neocities.

Pixel Art

  • 2D Will Never Die - A fun fansite dedicated to the appreciation of pixel art. Features blog posts, art, and tutorials, as well as some very cute easter eggs scattered throughout the site.

  • Aseprite - Designed explicitly for making and animating pixel art, and so avoids some of the hassle when having to arrange and work with other programs for pixel art. It's not free, but only asks for a decently cheap one-time payment. Strong recommend.


  • Lospec - Various tutorials, resources and palettes for restrictive digital art.

  • Sprite Database - A database for various video game sprites, textures, backgrounds, etc. Extremely helpful for reference.

  • Spriters Resource - Similar to the above, an archive dedicated to collecting and preserving various video game materials. Another extremely helpful site for reference.

Misc.

  • Cohost - The fabled fourth website. The layout is very Tumblr-esque on first glance, but is explicitly designed with the intent of avoiding harassment and bad habit forming features common in social media nowadays. (For example: You will not get a count for how many likes a post got.)

  • Dreamwidth - A LiveJournal-like blog site that's been quietly chugging along since a number of exoduses from the original. Very text-based, with limited image support, but it's got a fantastic tagging system for organization within one's own blog.

  • Lifeprint - An incredible free resource for learning American Sign Language. Features several videos, images and other resources to aid in study.

  • Photopea - Can't afford Photoshop? Yeah, me neither. This tool, however, effectively mimics all the major functions of it right in your browser and is totally free.

Video Games

  • itch.io - A place for folks to host, sell and download indie games. Every now and again the site hosts bundles for charity, or game jam events for devs. Their primary focus is video games, but you can find program extensions or plugins, assets, music, and comics here as well.

  • Hidden Palace - A community dedicated to preserving various video game development materials.

  • OC ReMix - A community for the appreciation of video game music. Features several hundreds of fan-made arrangements available for download, as well as various information on game music and composers.
